ECITB/Vogal Group/Vogal Training pre-employment Programme

The Engineering Construction Industry Training Board (ECITB) and Vogal Group are sponsoring a pre-employment programme for an initial group of at least eight young people who wish to make a career in Engineering.

The objective of the programme is to give the selected young people an intensive three day per week practical training programme covering electrical, mechanical and welding engineering required to prepare them for working in the engineering sector.

ECITB are sponsoring the programme and expect 100% of delegates on the programme to move into full time employment during the programme. Once in employment the young people will complete the remaining elements of the Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship to become fully qualified Engineers.

Vogal Group are a rapidly expanding engineering installation and maintenance company, based in Peterborough, who have committed to employ all suitable delegates from the programme.

Vogal Training, part of the Vogal Group, is a highly respected local Training Provider that currently delivers Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship training for over 30 local and national companies (as well as other commercial training). It’s Apprenticeship success rate in 2014/15 was 88%, the highest of any local provider of engineering advanced apprenticeships. It is on target to achieve 100% success in the current year 2015/16.

As a minimum, during the programme successful delegates will be expected to achieve:-

 Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Performing Engineering Operations.

 ECITB CCNSG Safety Passport.

 Functional Skills in Maths and English where they do not have a grade C or higher at GCSE level.

 Personal Learning and Thinking Skills including a team work activities day.

 Additional employer requirements such as Abrasive Wheel and Manual Handling training.

 Full time employment with further training to complete the Engineering Advanced Apprenticeship.

This is an excellent opportunity for those students who have successfully completed their Engineering BTEC Level 3 course and are not going onto Higher Education or who have not secured full time employment in the engineering sector.
