Firstly we would like to welcome Trevor King who has joined us in the position of Engineering Commercial Manager, he brings to us a wealth of knowledge in both procurement and contract negotiations, he is already supporting members of our team in recognising and organising commercial / contractual training which is being well received by all concerned.
Our detailed 5 year Business Development Plan is coming along nicely, I expect this to be presented to our senior management team during December, once approved it will be distributed and implemented by all concerned.
I would like to thank all involved in contributing towards Vogal winning the “Safe Contractor of the year Award” with one of our most esteemed clients, we have been close to winning this in previous years but to finally win it leaves me with a sense of pride. Over the years, we have made a significant investment in the training of our workforce, working with our major clients to improve safety culture and standards of all. This award is recognition of our hard work and ongoing commitment to improving safe working systems whilst still maintaining a high degree of productivity and quality, with this award comes a cash prize to be donated to charities of our choice, we have decided to split this with half being donated to Sue Ryder Thorpe Hall Hospice and half to East Anglia Air Ambulance.
We can also now confirm for a seventeenth consecutive month that there have been no lost time incidents to report, the whole of our workforce should be proud of this achievement. We have appointed a number of site/shop floor safety leaders who are encouraged to be our custodians of safety. I would like to think that this has contributed to these excellent performance statistics.
We are progressing well with interviews and the recruitment of mechanical and electrical apprentices, we have also embarked on a traineeship programme with work based placements for a significant number of enthusiastic young people wanting to get into engineering.
We are also looking to recruit an experienced marketing / sales manager who will be tasked to seek to new opportunities and extend our existing client base in an effort to encourage organised controlled growth in all areas of our business.
Finally we expect to launch the Training Centres new web site during December, many thanks to Alex at Thump Creative for their valued support and guidance.
