- To be able to demonstrate how to weld basic joints such as tee fillets, corner joints and lap joints to BS9606 Standard
- To be able to identify weld defects in welded joints
Progression:
You can progress onto a 3 or 5-day course for either the MMA, MIG or TIG welding process.

This welding course is focused on individual requirements and those needed within their workplace role. This course is designed to provide candidates with the ability to produce welds safely and to industry standards.
This training is aimed at supervisors, technicians, maintenance engineers and any personnel involved in equipment maintenance. The course is designed for candidates with some welding experience, although it can be customised to suit all skill levels.
The individual can choose which welding process they would like to further develop skill in from Manual Metal Arc (MMA) Metal Inert Gas (MIG) or Tungsten Inert Gas (TIG).
Learning Outcomes:
- To understand the basic principles of either MMA, MIG or TIG including theory for the process
- Safe working principles including safe set up and close down of the welding plant
- 1-1 demonstrations from the Tutor with ongoing advice and guidance to develop skills
- To be able to how to weld basic joints such as tee fillets; corner joints, lap joints and butt joints in various positions including flat; horizontal vertical, vertical and overhead to BS9606 Standard
- To be able to identify weld defects in welded joints
